While reading skillcode’s blog I cam across some wonderful quotes by Albert Einstein…
If you can’t explain it to a six year old, you don’t understand it yourself.
If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.
These are great to keep in mind as you education yourself and your children.
As a kindergarten teacher, I agree 100%.
As my young daughters were growing up, they were blessed with the music of their grandmother’s piano playing talent; she was always pulling them up next to her on the bench and encouraging them to sing along to such childhood favorites as Mary Had a Little Lamb, Hickory Dickory, Dock… the list is endless. -So are the benefits of such simplicity… oh! If only we could go back to naptime, housekeeping centers, block building, and of course…milk and cookies. There was no common core, but there was a lot of common sense.
I’m glad to see that someone else feels the same way that I do! I try to keep as much of the classic ways to educate a child and the things that I grew up on around my daughter not just tv or the cell phone. I think kids will learn to have a different appreciation for things this way. Thanks for commenting!
